Precision machining is a type of mechanical processing—a technique used to achieve the positional and geometric tolerances specified on engineering drawings. During this process, the workpiece undergoes certain changes in both its performance characteristics and overall shape.

As a discipline within mechanical engineering programs, mechanical parts design is one of the most popular majors chosen by science and technology students—and it’s also considered one of the strongest engineering fields. Today, this field not only demands solid knowledge in science and engineering but also requires excellent drawing skills and strong spatial reasoning abilities. Moreover, with China’s industrial growth and ever-evolving market needs, the demand for professionals in the mechanical processing industry continues to rise. As a result, employment rates for graduates specializing in mechanical engineering can reach as high as 95%.
With the advancement of China's domestic industry, mechanical processing has undergone significant transformations, and precision machining technology has emerged as a standout innovation. Many industries—such as home appliances, automotive, hardware, and medical manufacturing—increasingly rely on precision components, either directly in their products or as critical elements within larger machinery. Whether it’s just a single part or a core component of an entire device, precision machining plays an indispensable role in driving efficiency, performance, and quality across the board.
These precision parts undergo two types of machining processes: hot working and cold working. Hot working involves subjecting the parts to heat treatment or other thermal processes, enabling chemical or physical changes at elevated temperatures to achieve the desired shape. In contrast, cold working relies on techniques like cutting—typically performed at room temperature—without causing any chemical or physical alterations, thus shaping the parts as needed.
